THE 49th NAACP AWARDS NOMINEES LUNCHEON


        
       The 49th, NAACP Awards Luncheon took place on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The luncheon celebrates the nominees for the 2018 NAACP Image Awards. The NAACP Image Awards is the preeminent multicultural awards show celebrating the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.

      The affair was co-hosted by Lil Rel Howery and Amirah Vann. The nominees eased their way down the red carpet posing for photographers shouting names and directions and interviewing with press. As with every year, waiters and waitresses mixed through the guests entering the ballroom lobby serving the house specialty beverage orange juice mixed with champagne which is a big hit every year.

Actor Anthony Anderson, star of the ABC-TV hit sitcom “Blackish” is once again the host. The broadcast will include a one-hour live Red-Carpet Pre-Show followed by a Two-Hour live TV Special to air on TV One Monday, January 15, 2018, Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.


     Leaders with the most nominations in their categories include: 
Mary J. Blige and JAY-Z Lead with 5 Nominations;
Followed by Bruno Mars, Issa Rae, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA with 4 Nominations;
Charlie Wilson, Idris Elba and Ledisi Received 3 Nominations;

Netflix and OWN Lead the Nominations in the TV Categories;
Capitol Records Leads in the Recording Category and
HarperCollins Publishing Leads with 11 Nominations in the Literary Category
