2019 Daytime Emmy Nominees Reception - TV
2019 DAYTIME EMMY® AWARDS NOMINEE RECEPTION
It is a tradition that the nominees for
The Daytime Emmy Awards are saluted with a Pre-Award Nominee Reception to
recognize and pay tribute to those who made the cut enroute to the big dance
which is The Daytime Emmy Awards.
The gala was held at the world famous and
historic Castle Green in Pasadena, California. Of course, a red carpet laden
with the press was on hand to greet, photograph and interview the honored guest
upon arrival.

A couple of our red carpet interview highlights included the guest below.
Was it nerve racking voicing the iconic
cartoon character of the new version of Porky Pig after generations have grown
up listening to the legendary and original voice of Porky, Mel Blanc? Bergan
smiles, “None of us sounds like the original Mel Blanc. He was the one and
only. So all I try to do is keep the integrity of the character. I don’t even
try to be Mel Blanc because none of us can come close to his genius.” Bergan is
nomination is for Best Performance In An Animated Program as the voice of Porky
Pig in “New Miggins,” on the Boomerang Cartoon Network. Bergman beams with
pride saying, “We did about 300 shorts. They’ve only aired one season here in
the States and it’s great writing. The producer’s name is Mack Creig and he did most of the writing and did
a brilliant job of keeping the integrity of the original characters, putting
them in modern day situations which is not easy to do with classic characters. How
exciting is it to have your work appreciated like this? Bergan jokes, “Other
than my mom! It’s very exciting. It’s a celebration of all things TV.”
Dorell Anthony Actor/Producer
Anthony is the creator/producer of the
award winning digital series, “Pride;
The Series” and has a recurring guest star role on “General Hospital.” Anthony
explains, “Pride; The Series” is on Amazon Prime. It is my life, my heart, my
baby. Pride is really a coming of age story about a bunch of adults who are
trying to find themselves. This upcoming third season which we will be
announcing, has a current daytime writer who will be writing our show now. It
will be a change of show to reflect more of what’s going on in the world today.
What is Anthony’s expression on being part
of the Daytime Emmys nominee’s reception? He beams with total satisfaction, “I
so excited to be here supporting the Daytime genre. Its been so great and
supportive to me. There’s a lot of love here tonight.” How taxing is it to be
acting and producing “Pride” as well as acting on “General Hospital. When does
he sleep? Anthony laughs, “It’s not taxing, it’s a blessing. There are so many
people who would love to be doing what I’m able to do. And this to me is such a
blessing. I can’t be tired until it’s done, I can just smile and be happy that
I’m here. Because not many people get to walk across that threshold and say
that they are apart of that daytime community and I am. So it is absolutely
amazing.”
