MULTI-PLATINUM SELLING LO-FI PRODUCER KINA TEAMS UP WITH CAVETOWN FOR NEW TRACK
TRYING NOT TO CRY”

Multi-platinum Italian producer Kina has tapped UK singer-songwriter Cavetown for his latest single “Trying Not To Cry.”  The track perfectly fuses Kina’s lo-fi beats with Cavetown’s songwriting and vocals, marking their second collaboration following the producer’s remix of Cavetown’s “Sharpener.” “Trying Not To Cry” is released alongside lyric video.

In speaking about the release, Kina says: “For me, ‘Trying Not To Cry’ is a situation that most people have experienced at least one time in their life. When it all feels like too much and you’re trying to solve a problem and you can’t, all that emotion just becomes too much to restrain, which makes you more sad. But, I'm happy to have made this idea real with the incredible artist that is Cavetown - I'm a huge fan of his music and love that I got to finally work with him. It’s really an honor, and his voice fits perfectly with the mood that I wanted for this track."

“Trying Not To Cry” is preceded by Kina’s recent track “U Not There” and remix collaborations on Mehro’s “chance with you” and Mokita’s “colorblind” as well as original songs “I’m Not Going Back” (feat. Mokita) and “Tell Me About You” (feat. Mishaal). In April of last year, the producer released his debut EP Things I Wanted To Tell You, featuring Pink Sweat$, Au/Ra, and more. Included on the EP is Kina’s breakout hit “Get You The Moon” (feat. Snøw), which has garnered over 3 billion streams worldwide to date and is RIAA Platinum-certified in the US, Mexico, Australia, Sweden and Canada. Also featured on the project is “Can We Kiss Forever?” ft. Adrianna Proenza, which has surpassed half a billion streams and generated over 12M videos on TikTok using the sound.

Stay tuned for the “Trying Not To Cry” official video starring Kina and Cavetown coming soon!

Italian producer Kina broadcasts his secrets through lo-fi pop transmissions teeming with the emotion and release of a midnight confession. His bare honesty registers on a global scale with an understated, yet seismic impact. Since 2017, the Naples-born Italian producer and artist has quietly emerged as a bona fide phenomenon with over 5 billion streams, Platinum certifications, and acclaim from Refinery29 and Idolator.

His breakthrough 2018 single “Get You To The Moon” [feat. Snøw] initially exploded on Tik Tok as Columbia Records called and signed him. Eventually, the track garnered a platinum plaque from the RIAA, appeared in an episode of On My Block, and posted up 1 billion total streams and counting. It also paved the way for his 2020 EP, Things I Wanted To Tell You. Inspired by a stint in Lisbon, the latter boasted the gold-selling “Can We Kiss Forever?” [feat. Adriana Proenza], “Where R U?” [feat. Pink Sweat$], and “Feel Again” [feat. Au/Ra], which Clash praised as a “wonderful future pop bouncer.” Along the way, he also remixed music for Natalie Taylor, StaySolidRocky, and many others.

Since the age of 14, Cavetown has created self-produced songs both intensely diaristic and touched with offbeat imagination. Now 22, the Cambridge-based artist otherwise known as Robin Skinner has emerged as one of the preeminent voices in the DIY bedroom pop scene, with more than 1 billion global streams to date, including 7.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and 1.8 million YouTube subscribers. He did so without a viral hit or easy gimmicks, but rather pure heart, filling his YouTube channel and Bandcamp with a mix of covers and original music he wrote and self-recorded in his bedroom.

With the release of his 2018 breakthrough album Lemon Boy, Skinner’s unassuming yet captivating personality took the internet by storm, catapulting him become a go-to collaborator for bedroom pop mainstays mxmtoon, Chloe Moriondo, and Tessa Violet, plus selling out major venues across the U.S. and U.K. as well as taking the stage at leading festivals like Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds. In 2020, he unveiled his major label debut album, SLEEPYHEAD, followed by his most critically acclaimed EP to date, Man’s Best Friend, which earned global praise from the likes of The New York Times, The FADER, Rolling Stone, Billboard, CLASH Magazine, and many more upon its release earlier this year.
