"SAY HER NAME (Hell you Talmbout)"
Today Black woman artists and activists in partnership with Janelle Monáe and the African American Policy Forum (AAPF) releases, "Say Her Name (Hell You Talmbout)", a 17-minute protest track, in observance of International Daughter's Day to raise awareness to the many Black women and girls who have died from police violence. "Say Her Name" follows Wondaland's 2015 protest track "Hell You Talmbout", which spoke out about the Black men and women who have also died from police violence.
Proceeds from this release will benefit the African American Policy Forum (AAPF). Learn more about the Say Her Name campaign and how you can support this important cause below.

mattered and should be with us today. Black women and girls are often left out
of the conversation when it comes to police brutality. Today we say their
names. We tell their stories.

The African American Policy Forum, alongside the Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies at Columbia Law School, founded the #SayHerName campaign in December 2014 to elevate the names and stories of Black women, girls, and femmes who have too often been invisible victims of police violence. From this effort grew the #SayHerName Mothers Network, a community of mothers and family members of Black women, girls and femmes killed by police. The mission of the Mothers Network is to recover the memories of stolen lives, to provide support to other mothers and families who have been impacted by racist police violence, and to advocate for social, judicial, and legal interventions to ensure humane, life-affirming police encounters for communities across the nation.
