In Broad Daylight - TV Movie

Beginning
tonight, Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 8 P.M. ET/7C; Encore at 10 P.M. ET/9C, TV One
will run a series of crime thrillers for the next three Sundays in July. All
three movies are based on true life occurrences. Leading off the series tonight is “In
Broad Daylight,” a true story of Jordan Boudreaux, who gets abducted by her
obsessed and estranged boyfriend Steve. Jordan’s family rallies the community
while her closest cousin, Malik, makes it his personal mission to find and
bring her home safely. The family, community and police band together to find
Jordan before it’s too late.

The
movie stars Chyna Layne as Jordan Boudreaux and Curtis Hamilton as Steve
Peters. Both actors were asked what effect does doing a crime story have on
them personally in real life? Hamilton answers first saying, “For sure, I mean,
when something is truly being done, you first empathize with those people and
how tragic it is. So you start to relate to that part and what you would have
done. That kind of helps you mold the kind of character you’re going to make.
It’s tough. These kinds of stories are so unfamiliar for me. I don’t know
anyone who has been through this kind of stuff, especially domestic violence,
personally to that level. That’s where us as actors we have to use our craft,
our research and different things to kind of humanize them and make them
relatable to everybody else.”

Layne
chimes in adding, “In Broad Daylight is based on true events. So for us walking
into this and knowing that, there are some people who have gone through this
and they are going to be watching this story and identifying with it
personally. There is a sense of obligation that we have and must take it
seriously. We don’t want to make a spectacle of anyone’s life or anyone’s
situation so what we want to do is bring truth and honesty to it. And hope that
their survival and fight inspires other people. We do this taking real good
care of our characters in the story and making sure there is a sense of dignity
to their lives.”

Will
this particular film effect how both actors select who to date in real life?
Layne explains, “I’m in a relationship with someone who is very, very loving,
protective and kind and so I’m lucky to have found that. We all kind of have
relationships where they might not necessarily be healthy and then we learn
from them. Luckily I’ve experienced my fair share and was able to get to a
relationship that is very healthy.”
Regarding
this role having impact on his future dating choices, Hamilton agrees that,
“Probably subconsciously it does. I’ve done two films that touch on domestic
violence but it’s one of those things that you can never know who you’re going
to get in bed with. As we all do, you put on that face whenever we meet
somebody to present the best version of who they might want you to be. But at
the end of the day, you don’t know how it’s going to be two or three months down
the line how a relationship may turn. It hasn’t really affected me in that way.
But I would hope that your morals and your values and what your spiritual
edification may be, you put that into the bowl of what you want in a
relationship. That way it will help you pick the right person.
