Fatt Macc’s perseverance is rooted in all of his success today. At just 21 years old, Fatt Macc, born Malcolm Carlisle, has beaten the odds and clawed his way toward being the next rapper to watch out for from Alabama. He kicked things off in 2020 with his debut project Bandemic, and two years later he graced his growing fan base with not one, but two projects: Young Street Dreamer and Uncle Sam.
His dream of being a rapper goes
all the way back to his days in elementary school. Inspired by influences that
include Doe B, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Rick Ross, and Rich Homie Quan, it took
Fatt Macc a few years to make his first song, something that didn’t occur until
he almost finished elementary school. This youthful success was quickly stunted
by Macc enduring a stint in juvenile prison as well as being the victim of two
separate shootings. These moments called for him to push through turbulent
times and reach new heights.
Like his perseverance, Fatt Macc’s concrete work ethic plays a part in his upward trek. A father of two kids, a boy and a girl, Macc quickly realized that it wasn’t just about himself anymore, primarily as he worked jobs at a Popeye’s and a plant to support his family. “My son wasn’t born when I got shot the first time.
When I got shot the second time, my son
was here so it was like, this sh*t is bigger than me. You gotta be a grown man,
you gotta do what you gotta do. It ain't about me." As things progress for
Macc and new goals land on his agenda, there’s one thing that will never leave
his mind: “Only the strong survive.” Macc has been through a lot, but he’s also
overcome a lot and it’s the latter that gives him the motivation to press
onward and the confidence to reach for higher levels time and time again.
