corook is a “bad friend”
rising alt-pop artist sings new song to her former friends in official video
first-ever live run supporting K. Flay begins february 10 in charlotte, nc
Self-described
“singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and huge f*ckin dork,” corook [pronounced
‘co-rook’] has shared her most vulnerable song yet. Bearing
intimate details from the queer alt-pop artist’s life, “bad friend” arrives today at all DSPs and streaming
services. The introspective new single is complemented by a more humorous music
video in which corook sings directly to her former friends, played
by her actual real-life besties. Watch the official video now streaming at
YouTube.
corook "bad friend"
“I wrote ‘bad friend’ when I moved to Nashville after college,” says corook. It was the first time since college that I moved to a city without knowing anyone. The song is a reflection of my struggle to maintain friendships throughout the different phases of my life. Writing it with my girlfriend allowed me to tap into the vulnerability and insecurity that comes with that struggle.”
“bad friend” follows corook’s unforgettable debut single, “sims.” Co-written with Caroline Pennell (Demi Lovato, Hailee Steinfeld, Selena Gomez) and Lauren Aquilina (Demi Lovato, Olivia O’Brien, Ava Max) and self-produced by corook, “sims” sees the Nashville-based musician creating a genre-busting sound all her own, fusing 64-bit bleeps and bloops with a head-nodding beat, glitchy guitar, and clever lyrics in both English and Simlish. A hilarious, cheeseball-infused music video, in which corook becomes an actual Sim, is streaming via YouTube.
corook is currently set to embark on her first-ever North American live run supporting K. Flay on her upcoming “Inside Voices Outside Voices Tour.” Dates get underway February 10th at The Underground in Charlotte, NC and travel through mid-March (see itinerary below). Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
corook aka Corinne Savage (yes that’s her real last name) is a singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and a huge fuckin dork. No but seriously. She can solve a Rubix cube in under a minute (depending on how she’s feeling that day.) This ~freckled chubby babe~ was born and raised just outside of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she grew up listening to Drake, Gwen Stefani and Mac Miller (RIP). She went to a performing arts high school (yes, just like Victorious) where she came out as QUEERAF her senior year. She then went to Berklee College of Music (wow – Owen Wilson voice) and graduated with TWO degrees (barely.) corook currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee (howdy.) She spends most of her time writing and producing music for her artist project “corook” (boop!) locked away in her room, alone (she blames it on Coronavirus but she’s actually just anti-social.) She turned 26 in January and she is VERY cute.
