FEATURING CHELSEA COLLINS
Nashville-based newcomer Foster shows his undoubted ability to mix it up on new single “run away,” a collaboration with exciting songwriter Chelsea Collins. It’s an addictive song that is rich in nostalgia and sentimentality. However, when you strip back the shimmery melodies, you’ll hear a sharp song about personal growth backed by a top flow. Listen to “run away”
Foster "Run Away"
Speaking about the song, Foster explains “Although ‘run away’ sounds like the story of a couple who struggles to keep their relationship together, it’s actually metaphorical. I decided to write this story about a hypothetical relationship between my current self and an imaginary future self, whose priorities have changed due to success. I’ve always told myself I’d be the same guy with the same passion regardless of how I’m rewarded, but I’m not sure I’ve ever truly been convinced. This uncertainty of change is something that lingers on my mind as I continue on in my career. But even though this is what the song means to me as the writer, there is no set-in-stone meaning. Each person who listens to this song will relate to it in a different way, whether it’s metaphorically or word for word, and that’s one of my all-time favorite aspects of songwriting.”
Born Colin Foster Taylor, Foster hails from Chattanooga but was raised in Nashville, TN. Foster grew up in a very musical family. He started writing and recording all his own songs around 10 years ago and has gained significant streams on Spotify, Apple and other DSPs since the release of his collaboration with Sody & Sarcastic Sounds, which is now closing in 50 million streams on Spotify alone. Foster takes inspiration from a number of different artists ranging from Mac Miller, John Mayer, to The Beatles. You will hear echoes of these and other artists in his music. Foster enjoys telling stories with his music. He will often pull from other’s experiences and mix them with his own, and this writing process creates a very raw and genuine sound. He spends a lot of time setting the vibe for each song by what is going on around him.
