SCOREY RELEASES EMOTIVE NEW VIDEO
“GUARDIAN
ANGEL”
Rising Syracuse, NY rapper Scorey releases the compelling new song and
video for “Guardian
Angel” via Capalot/ODA/Columbia Records.
The track pays tribute to his best friend Zachary “Zuly” Holloway who was
tragically killed by gun violence in May 2020. The emotive song describes his
relationship with Zuly and his personal struggles with his loss. The Trigg
directed music video was shot back in his hometown of Syracuse and highlights
touching moments of their friendship.
“Losing Zuly personally shifted my motivation. He didn’t rap, but that dude
was my biggest supporter, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do a lot of the
things I did without him. He was right there with me every step of the way. I
feel like I had to make it—I have to get our story out there.”- Scorey
Scorey "Guardian Angel"
“Guardian Angel” follows his latest new releases, “Love Letter”, “Rock N’ Roll” and “Dior You.” Scorey has amassed over 2M Spotify monthly listeners and was recently named one of Audiomack’s 10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now April 2021. He is currently in the studio working on his debut project to be released this year.
Scorey wades through genres like a chameleon, bending each style to his whim. Making a splash in 2019, the Syracuse, NY rapper dropped “No Choice” and “Freddy Krueger.” The latter caught the attention of multiplatinum Chicago superstar Polo G who DM’ed Scorey and struck up a conversation. Not long after, the buzzing rapper found himself performing to a sold-out crowd at the New York stop on Polo G’s Die A Legend Tour. Signed to Polo G’s Capalot/ODA Records, he hit the studio hard as the Global Pandemic shutdown the world.
However, tragedy struck in May 2020 when his best friend Zuly was shot and killed. Turning the pain into inspiration, he popped off with “Moods.” Not only did DDG, Lil Tjay, BLUEFACE, and Polo G pull up for the video, but it also highlighted his ability to adapt to any beat as his airy melody glides through acoustic guitar. Right out of the gate, it generated 8.2 million Spotify streams and 8 million YouTube views on the visual. Following his single “Dior You,” Audiomack named him among “10 Rappers You Should Know Right Now” and described the track as “showcasing his penchant for catchy songwriting and emotive hooks.” After racking up north of 20 million streams and 20 million views and landing a deal as the first signee to Capalot Records/ODA Records in partnership with Columbia Records, Scorey’s versatility powers his 2021 debut project and a series of singles led by “Rock N Roll” and “Love Letter.” He was recently featured on Polo G’s #1 album Hall Of Fame on the track “Broken Guitars.”
