Soulful alt-pop singer-songwriter and pianist, Genevieve Stokes, has unveiled a heartrending new acoustic version of her million-streaming hit, “Parking Lot”. “Parking Lot (Stripped)” – which provides a raw new perspective on the song’s already expressive lyrical content – is available now at all DSPs and streaming services HERE. For a deeper look into the Portland, ME-based artist’s world, watch the song’s idyllic visualizer streaming now at YouTube.

      Hailed by
NYLON in the song’s exclusive video premiere as “a wistful tribute to the first flush of young love,” the original version of “Parking Lot” is featured on Stokes’ acclaimed debut EP, Swimming Lessons, available everywhere now via Atlantic Records. The EP – which now boasts over 4M worldwide streams – features the entrancing lead single “Surface Tension,” accompanied by a dreamy visual which premiered on FLOOD. Watch HERE.

      Named by
Alternative Press as a “New Artist You Need To Hear,” Stokes will celebrate the success of Swimming Lessons with a series of US tour dates alongside Noah Kahan this fall and Briston Maroney early next year (see itinerary below). For complete details and ticket availability, visit genevievestokes.com/tour.

The 19-year-old artist has quickly drawn attention and applause for her intimate yet lush approach to alternative pop. Having taught herself piano at the age of eight, Stokes spent much of her teens developing her own unique sound, inspired by iconic female musicians like Cat Power and Regina Spektor but infused with personal experience and perspective. Before releasing her debut EP, Stokes had already amassed over 7M streams independently, ascended esteemed playlists and garnered acclaim from ComplexFlauntEarmilk and more.

          Swimming Lessons
was recorded last year during a handful of sessions at a cabin located just a stone’s throw from Genevieve’s childhood home in Maine, bringing a delicate and youthful touch to her storytelling. The EP includes tracks like the fan favorite, “Morning Dove,” which Genevieve recently performed live for FLOOD’s “Neighborhoods” series behind her home in Falmouth, Maine. “Live From Maine” performances of “Surface Tension” and “Parking Lot” are also available now at Genevieve’s official YouTube channel.
