Women of Color Unite Gala - Event

Film/television producer and founder of Women of Color Unite a
501c3 organization, Cheryl L. Bedford along with more than 450
Women of Color and their Allies gathered at The California African-American
Museum in Los Angeles to celebrate its one-year anniversary. 2018 produced
many extraordinary accomplishments. Of course, no Awards Gala is an event
without a red carpet receiving star arrivals from the entertainment sector and
luminaries from the business and political worlds.
Women of Color Unite and the JTC
List was founded by TV/film producer Cheryl L. Bedford. The JTC
List was named after Bedford's mother, Joan Theresa Curtis who was a
political activist throughout her entire life, standing up for equality and
issues that affected race and human rights until her death in 2016. The JTC List
was designed to make it easy for talented and skilled women of color in the
industry from all over the world to join and be exposed to the networks,
studios and production companies for consideration with the overall goal of
getting them hired in their respective areas of expertise. In just
one year, the group has grown to nearly 500 women of color and has been very
successful in getting the ladies employed and into writing programs.

The gala sponsored by Viacom, CBS Diversity and Riboli Family
of San Antonio Winery. Honorees include: legendary actress Marla
Gibbs, producer Effie T. Brown (Dear White People) and the Holly
Shorts Film Festival.
