Savannah Jayde - Movie

Savannah Jayde
Saving The Day In Space Warriors!
Arc Entertainment has a new movie out called “Space Warriors.” It involves six highly skilled teens who were hand picked to participate in a summer space camp competition at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. When the competition really heats up, the participants are not aware that their ultimate challenge will be to solve a dangerous crisis aboard the International Space Station amid world wide media attention.

Savannah Jayde
Dani is one of the teen team members and she is played by Savannah Jayde. Fans of the Nickelodeon teen show “Big Time Rush” will recognize Jayde as one of “The Jennifers.” She has also had roles on TV shows such as “Amazing Love,” “Mellissa & Joey,” “Corey and Lucas” and “The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” to name some.

The Teen Space Crew
When asked to describe her role as Dani in “Space Warriors,” Jayde lights up, “We had a chance to see the finished movie and we’re really happy with it. The film is about a group of kids who all come to the same camp and we go through the motions of learning how to be an astronaut. We’re competing against this team that has won every year. They are such a great team and we are kind of the underdogs and still kind of learning our way around but we end up saving NASA.

Cast and Director at the Premiere
When she got the role, what kind of training did the cast have to undergo to make what they were doing look real on screen? Jayde explains, “A Couple of days before we started filming, we had to walk around the space camp and kind of see what the normal kids who were there had to go through. We did scuba diving and the centrifuge which is a crazy, big contraption that you get in and it makes you want to throw up. We also did the helidunker which is this huge, kind of helicopter like thing that gets dropped into this lake and you have to get your team out safely and you have to cover each other and swim out. That’s a part of the aviation plunge and it was pretty difficult but we all had a good time and we all looked out for each other which was nice. So we had to do all of the stuff that the regular camp kids do.” In case we didn’t mention it, the filming took place at the actual youth space camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

When she sees her work on the big or little screen, is she critical of herself? Jayde laughs, “Absolutely! I think all actors are their #1 critic. Once you see something and it is in print you know you could have done it a different way. But you have to look at it like that’s what you did, it was great and everybody liked it if you get good feedback so you have to put it aside. But I would definitely say that I’m a pretty hash critic of myself.”

Savannah on red carpet
Having started as a child model in her native Dallas, Texas then moving to Los Angeles with her family to pursue acting; eighteen year-old Jayde has arrived at that interesting point in her career and in life of transitioning from child/teen to young adult. History has shown that some former child stars fall off the wagon during this period and become victim to peer and fan pressure thereby wanting to shake their cutesy-wootsy, squeaky clean image for that of trying to be bad, hard, oversexed, drugged-out and excessive partying. How does Jayde plan to get through this chapter? She ponders, “I think it’s definitely something that you kind of prepare yourself for. You see people ahead of you going through it. Some people come out really well and some come out not so well. It all depends on how you grew up and what you believe and how your family is and where you see yourself going in your career. You can make good and bad decisions and chose the path you go down and obviously I plan to take the right one. I don’t want to do projects that are trashy. I have some fans and I’d like to do something that they can grow with me.”
