Lincoln Lawyer 3rd Season - TV
Lincoln
Lawyer
Celebrates
The Premiere of
Season Three
The cast, and creatives of the smash hit Netflix, in association with The A+E Network, TV drama series “The Lincoln Lawyer,” celebrated the beginning of their third season with a blue carpet premiere rooftop bash at the beautiful LA Center Stage Studios in Downtown Los Angeles. The series cast in attendance included Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton, Yaya DaCosta, Jazz Raycole, Merrin Dungey, Allyn Moriyon, WolĂ© Parks, John Pirruccello, Fiona Rene, Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, and Krista Warner.
The Lincoln Lawyer series was
created for television by Emmy winner David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey. Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic
idealist, runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln, as he
takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. Based on
the series of bestselling novels by renowned author Michael Connelly, the third
season is based on the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Gods of
Guilt. The series’ writers include Ted Humphrey, Dailyn Rodriguez, Ross
Fineman, Michael Connelly, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. Season 3 will be
available in its entirety on October 17 on Netflix.
Lincoln Lawyer
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo |
Despite his rude publicist trying to block me from speaking to him on the blue carpet, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who plays the starring role as Mickey Hatter the Lincoln lawyer, was a pure pleasure to interview. He was cordial, warm and welcoming. When asked about the excitement of season three, he flashes a big smile and quips, “It feels good.” The show exudes a mystical kind of magic. What creates that on the set? First, he acknowledges with a nice thank you, then Garcia-Rulfo breaks it down saying, “It’s the cast. It feels like family, dynamics and everything, the way it is written. We really have a lot of fun and I think that is portrayed on the screen.”
Becki Newton |
Becki Newton plays Lorna Crane and
when you consider that this is a show by the superstar, Emmy winning
writer/producer David E. Kelly, It would have a twist to get you hooked which
explains season three. Newton responds, “I think, when we shoot it, what makes
the show so interesting is within all of that drama, there is some humor. I
have a little pug dog that I carry around. He sees relationships like my character
who is married to Fisco who works in the office. So, there’s all these
dynamics, and all these relationships happening within the bigger story. To me,
this is why the show works. It’s not just about what happens in the courtroom, it’s also what’s happening between all of
these characters that we try to solve these cases. It's both fun and daunting
all at the same time.”

Jazz Raycole |
Jazz Raycole plays Izzy Lot. When asked about her character Raycole explains, “My character Izzy is actually not in the book (from where the series is taken). She has a bit of a blow up this season. She goes through a lot of transitions. I think where you meet her in season two and where you see her at the end of season three is very, very different. She gets to end the season which I’m very excited about.” How does Raycole’s blending into the creative process of the show work for her? She expresses, “Honestly, it feels great. I’ve read all the books. The fifth book is the third season and it is my favorite. It is a lot of suspense. You never know what’s going on which makes it exciting.
Yaya DaCosta |
”Yaya DaCosta plays Andrea Freemann. Like her fellow cast members DaCosta relishes a third season. She says, “It’s great! I think this is a great show and it has a promise for longevity. So, it’s great to be a part of it.” The show is a mixed stew of several genre nuances. How is that feeling achieved on the set? DaCosta points out, “The writers do a great job of balancing comedy with suspense and some really difficult, heavy topics. It is an art juggling that on set, both as actors and human beings because these scenes affect us. Even though we’re playing make believe, we make it feel real. That’s our job. And sometimes the body doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s not. So, there’s and art to it, and I think in season three, we’ve done a beautiful job of making that balance entertaining.”
