You know where she at…You can catch NCognita riding down Crenshaw. The South Central spitter serves bars with “Blame It On the Hip-Hop”— the first from her Short N Sweet series. With summertime Cali vibes, the 20-year-old rapper brings her lyrical dexterity and ability, while effortlessly switching flows in the Jonathan Benavente-directedofficial visual. HerShort N Sweetsare set to showcase how her strengths translate exceptionally well from pen, to paper, to the mic. “Blame It On the Hip Hop” quickly follows her hard-hitting track, “Gangsta Lean,” which served as a follow up to 2020’s high-energy "Hallucinogen (Trippin)" and "Clap Clap."

The Los Angeles native was encouraged at an early age to turn to writing as a therapeutic form of self-expression, with poetry quickly becoming her first love. With her passion for the written and spoken word cemented by the time she entered high school, NCognita's vibrant musical upbringing helped her come into her own as an emerging rapper + creative force.
During her senior year at the LA County High School for the Arts, NCognita began embracing music in a more serious capacity + decided to continue her education at Loyola University New Orleans. Rising singer/songwriter Niko
Rubio has released her third major label single, “Go With
You,” available today via Sandlot Records/Atlantic Records. “Go With You”
is the latest song the 20 year old California-bred singer/songwriter has released
from her upcoming debut EP “Wish You Were Here,” out August 20th.

track is literally just a voice memo... like no mic, just a one-take memo track
all the way through. It was the first song I did with Andy Seltzer at the very
beginning of the pandemic. He was on FaceTime and I was in my grandma's
garage. I mentioned I wanted to make something kind of alt-rock based and it
was so hot in my garage in April of 2020... over a year ago I had to put a
small AC unit in. I was so nervous he wouldn’t want to
do an alt track with me but he literally killed it. We kind of laughed the
whole way through the session, we just clicked and knew we had something
special. From then on, we just molded the sound and created what would end up
being the EP. I felt very free to just write from my heart and believe that for
this project I was in the beginning stages of making was going to be different
than anything I’ve ever done; it would be better.”

Her latest single, “Go With
You,” follows her previous songs, “Bed” and “You Could Be The One,” the
latter of which Billboard praised as a, “captivating
showcase for the newcomer,” adding that, “the kicky pop-rock
track allows Rubio’s tone to sink down low and soar skyward.” PAPER also
noted that her songs are “…infused with waves of indie-rock and guitar
riffs…in the most Californian style, of course.” All three tracks will
appear on her forthcoming EP.

When creating her debut project,
20-year-old singer/songwriter Niko Rubio found a never-ending muse in the
Pacific Coast Highway: the iconic stretch of road that runs along the ocean for
nearly the entire length of California, including the Southern California South
Bay area where she grew up. Expansive and euphoric, Niko’s radiant form of
songwriting perfectly echoes the pure sense of possibility that accompanies
driving down the PCH. Drawing inspiration from the collage of artists
she’s come to admire throughout her life including Vampire Weekend, Lana Del
Rey, Erykah Badu & twenty one pilots, as well as the mariachi & banda
music her grandparents played at home, Niko’s music is an amalgamation of these
influences, but unique in its effervescent melodies and unpredictable textures.
Using cinematically detailed references and her effortlessly untamed vocals,
Niko is ready to take those who listen to her songs “You Could Be The One” and
“Bed” and “Go With You,” as well as her forthcoming EP, Wish You Were
Here, on a sonic road trip along the highway where they became a
possibility.
